How can we educate children for self-regulated learning in the digital world? What does digital literacy look like without using devices? And how can we reduce children’s dependence on screens?
In today’s digital age, children encounter screens early and often own devices by age 7, which brings both opportunities and risks—like misinformation and inappropriate content—that they may not be prepared to handle. Parents often lack the time to teach essential digital literacy skills, and while teachers are crucial in early education, they face challenges with limited resources and preparation time.
To address this need, the project offers a structured toolkit that empowers teachers to teach digital literacy through creative, screen-free activities. Focusing on skills that help children recognize online risks and foster critical thinking, the toolkit supports responsible digital behavior and independence, all without the distraction of digital devices.

During his studies he researched in the field of visual communication with analog and digital media, as well as the potential of design for the creation of systems and processes. For his thesis he analyzed the theatrical and choreographic possibilities of service design processes and workshops to improve the visualization of problems in co-creative processes. After his studies he worked at the intersection of analog and digital design and performance in theater as video artist for the theater collective Studio Trafique and for Theater Bonn. Since the end of 2021 he has become an art director for the design agency VUCX in Cologne, developing brands and unique brand experience for clients in various industries. Since 2023 he studied a Master degree in Service Design Strategies and Innovations (sd-si) as Erasmus Mundus Scholar and graduated in June 2025.
